the Zazoo! French English bilingual story books for children

If you are looking for French English bilingual story books for children, let us introduce you to the Zazoo of Little Bilingues! Their most recently published book “Adventures at the beach” is perfect for the summer. “I don’t know what to wear” is more suited for the winter, but remains my son Rémy’s favorite. A third book “Let’s Discover Paris!” will be released in August. (I am an affiliate of Ornicar publishing. Click here to visit my online boutique where you can purchase the Zazoo books in French, Spanish and German at a discounted rate: Trilingual Mama’s online boutique.)

Come discover these charming little books with their endearing characters as well as a few things about the Little Bilingues learning method…

The books are inviting. The cover is filled with seven smiling, colorful, adorable characters that seem to say, “Come in and play with us!” You will notice that there are blue and pink conversation bubbles. In the blue bubbles you will find phrases in English and in the  pink bubbles you will find French.

Judith, founder of Little Bilingues and author of the Zazoo books, shares with us the four underlying principles in the learning method she uses for her books. You will find her words in the quotes below…

BILINGUALISM AND/OR NO TRANSLATION. The Zazoo books are bilingual books in a non-traditional way. Your children won’t focus on a dialogue and its translation. Instead, they will switch from their mother tongue to their target language in the story books…

EMOTIONAL LINK. The Zazoo are cheeky and funny characters your children will easily relate to: they share the same little worries and daily adventures.

The story is full of fun, mischief and play. This helps to draw children into the story while hearing both English and French.

FUN & ALMOST EFFORTLESS. Sitting in front of a list of words or looking at traditionnal flashcards can be a total turn-off for some children. That’s why I created joyful, bright and cute animals. I always try to insert humor and funny details within the books in the hope that it will entice your children to read and look at the book a second, third, forth (etc.) time.

Vocabulary in Adventures on the Beach focuses on beach vocabulary. Vocabulary in I Don’t Know What to Wear focuses on winter clothing.

USEFULNESS. …priority is given to high-frequency words and to simple and lively sentences in the books. Your children will be able to use what they learnt in their daily life.

“I don’t know what to wear” is a funny book also involving all seven Zazoo characters.

Rémy’s favorite part is when Zozo and Zaza become exasperated with their silly friend Kido. It makes him laugh every time.

My two older daughters like to take turns reading to the little ones. One reads the English phrases and the other reads the French!

And Rémy sometimes reads all to himself!

Little Bilingues also provides activity books, games and coloring pages that you can download for free on the website.
